Download Haven PDF

The same editor, packaged for every platform. All of them run entirely on your own machine: no upload, no account, no page limits and no watermark.

Not sure you need an app? The web version at havenpdf.com does everything the desktop builds do, and it keeps working offline once loaded. The native builds add file associations, a proper application window and offline-from-first-launch.

macOS

PackageSizeFor
.dmg (universal)189 MBApple Silicon and Intel, one file

Requires macOS 11 or newer. The disk image contains a universal binary, so the same download works on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs — you do not have to pick an architecture. Drag it to Applications, and you can set it as the default app for PDF files so a double-click opens Haven PDF instead of Preview.

Windows

PackageSizeFor
Installer .exe89 MBNormal install, file associations, auto-update
Portable .exe89 MBNo install — run from a USB stick or a locked-down PC

Requires Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The installer registers Haven PDF for .pdf files, so it appears in “Open with” and can be made the default PDF application; it also handles updates. The portable build writes nothing to the registry and needs no administrator rights, which makes it the right choice on a work machine where you cannot install software.

Linux

PackageSizeFor
AppImage121 MBAny distribution — no install, no root
.deb82 MBDebian, Ubuntu, Mint, Pop!_OS
.rpm83 MBFedora, RHEL, openSUSE

All three are x86-64. The AppImage is the path of least resistance: make it executable and run it, with nothing left behind if you delete it. The .deb and .rpm register the app with your desktop so it shows up in the launcher and in the “Open With” menu.

Android

PackageSizeFor
.apk19 MBAndroid 7 and newer

A direct APK download for now — the Play Store listing is still in preparation. Android asks for confirmation before installing an app from outside the store; that prompt is expected. The app is signed with a stable key, so future versions install as updates rather than as a separate app.

iPhone and iPad

There is no App Store build yet. The web version works in Safari and can be added to the home screen from the share menu, which gives it its own icon and a full-screen window — close to a native app in daily use, and it keeps working without a connection once loaded.

Browser — nothing to install

Everything the native builds do is also in the browser version, because they are the same code. Open havenpdf.com and start working; install it from the address bar and it runs in its own window, offline, like any other application.

The practical difference is small: the native builds start offline from the very first launch and can register as the default PDF handler, while the web version needs one online visit before its offline cache is warm.

Frequently asked questions

Which one should I download?
Whichever matches your operating system — the page above lists one recommended package per platform. If you are unsure on Linux, take the AppImage; on Windows take the installer unless you cannot install software, in which case take the portable build.
Is it really free?
Yes. No subscription, no account, no trial period, no page limits and no watermark. Every build is the full application.
Do the apps work without internet?
Yes, from the first launch. The renderer, the PDF writer, compression and OCR all ship inside the package; nothing is fetched from a server to open, edit or export a document.
Are my files uploaded when I use the app?
No. Not a page, not a filename, not a fragment. The app has no upload path at all — there is nothing on our side that could receive a document.
How do updates work?
The macOS, Windows and Linux AppImage builds check for updates and install them for you. The .deb and .rpm follow your package manager, and the Android APK is replaced by installing a newer one.
