Fill and sign a PDF
The most common PDF chore is a single loop: someone sends a form, you fill it, sign it, send it back. Doing that without printing — and without a paid Adobe subscription or an upload to a stranger’s server — is what this page is about.
Haven PDF detects real (interactive) form fields and lets you type straight into them; on flat forms with printed lines it adds text boxes wherever you click. The signature is drawn once — mouse, finger or stylus — placed anywhere, resized, and embedded permanently when you download. Contracts, consent forms and applications never leave your device.
How to
- Open the Fill forms tool. The form opens in the editor; detected fields are highlighted.
- Fill the fields. Type into real fields, or click anywhere to add a text box on flat forms.
- Draw and place your signature. Use the Signature tool once; drag it onto the signature line and resize.
- Download. Fields and signature are embedded in the PDF. Nothing was uploaded at any point.
Interactive forms vs. flat forms
If the PDF has real form fields, Haven PDF switches to form mode: click a field, type, tab to the next — checkboxes, radio buttons and dropdowns included, and the values are written into the actual AcroForm fields on export. If the form is just a printout (flat lines, no fields), use the Text tool to place answers exactly on the lines.
A signature that behaves like ink
Draw the signature once in the signature pad. Place it over the signature line, scale it with the corner handles, and export — it is flattened into the page, not a floating annotation someone can lift off. Add the date next to it with a small text box.
Send it back safely
The whole loop runs on your device, so the filled form with your name, address and signature never touches a server. If the recipient has an upload limit, run Compress before sending; if they should not edit your answers, use Flatten.
Frequently asked questions
- Does it work with forms that have no real fields?
- Yes — flat (printed-style) forms are the common case. You place text boxes on the lines yourself; alignment guides help keep them straight.
- Is a drawn signature legally valid?
- In many jurisdictions simple electronic signatures are accepted for everyday documents, but requirements vary by country and document type — check what your recipient requires. This tool produces a visual signature, not a cryptographic certificate.
- Can the recipient edit my answers?
- Interactive fields stay editable by default. If you want to lock the content, flatten the form before sending — answers become part of the page.
